Discovery Cube

Expansion Campaign

Discovery Cube is a children’s science center and popular field trip destination. This summer campaign aimed to advertise the science center’s new expansion. Collaborating with the marketing team at Discovery Cube, we came up with the tagline:
“Discovery Cube + 44,000 more sq. feet = Cool”

Our team created 4 different visual concepts for the campaign. One of my concepts became the visual theme for the advertising campaign and grand opening event, so I was in charge of creating the deliverables. I designed a billboard, print ads, and emails. I even had the opportunity to design a face of the Discovery Cube’s iconic cube structure, visible from the 5 freeway!

CREATIVE PROCESS

I drew inspiration from the Discovery Cube’s new logo refresh. Being a children’s museum, the Discovery Cube team was drawn to bright colors, gradients, and pop-out dimensional titles. I created a bright orange background with cube-shaped bokeh lighting effects to represent the summer campaign.

Making the headline as fun as possible, we utilized a pop out custom billboard to attract more attention and traffic. It was positioned outside the Orange County Fair!

We extended the advertising campaign look to the Expansion Grand Opening event collateral. Discovery Cube invited the Low & Joe Creative team to attend the grand opening and take part in the festivities!

Below are the other creative concepts our team created for the campaign that were not chosen for the final design.
